Santa Cruz, California, June 10 – The Santa Cruz Mountain Challenge run by the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club (SCCCC) has announced Current eBikes, Santa Cruz County’s specialist eBike retailer, as its title sponsor. Now in its 19th year, The Santa Cruz Mountain Challenge has four distance options (45, 65, 101 and 135 miles) and shows off the absolute best of Santa Cruz’s pristine cycling environment. From coastal cliff views to hills lined with ancient redwoods, participants enjoy the camaraderie and views of this annual summer endurance challenge all while benefiting local charities.
“Current eBikes is honored to contribute to SCCCC and be part of such a positive, long-running bicycling event,” said Current eBikes owner, Mike Ahern, “We’re committed to helping support the amazing cycling tradition and resources of the Santa Cruz area and the SCCCC shares that mission.”
EBikes have been steadily gaining popularity in the US mirroring their success in Europe as a popular and sustainable form of transport and recreation. Current eBikes capitalized on this trend late last year by opening a flagship store in downtown Santa Cruz selling leading eBike brands; Haibike, Pedego, Stromer, and Xtracycle, as well as the world’s leading folding bike (non-electric) from Brompton. The store also offers full bike servicing and rentals.
“Current eBikes involvement as title sponsor of our event helps us deliver a quality experience for all of our riders and helps us offset costs so that we can provide better funding for our marketing grants program services,” said Skippy Givens, SCMC Event Director. The rider registration fees (starting at $65) contribute to grants donated to local cycling-related charities such as Trips for Kids, Bike Smart, The Bike Church and the Tunitas Creek Bike Hut.
